About the Event
Bear Island Game Management Area is a treasure of wintering birds. They will be leaving soon, though, so we need to see them soon. Many already have their breeding plumage and are starting to flirt.
Meet me at the entrance kiosk of Bear Island WMA at 9:00 am and we will go find the birds.
We will drive and walk along the embankments of these managed wetlands to see the variety of wading and shore birds and ducks and grebes that winter in the Lowcountry.
Wear clothes and shoes to walk through long grass. We will likely walk about 1 mile in total.
Bring water and binoculars.
